WHO WE ARE
Guiding you through Asthma support in the Waikato
At Asthma Waikato, we believe that everyone deserves the chance to live life without the constant worry of asthma. Our Vision is simple: Living free from asthma.
Our mission is to free people from asthma through expert education and advocacy to live a life full of possibilities.
HOW WE CAN HELP
Supporting you every step of the way
Asthma can be overwhelming. At Asthma Waikato, we guide you and your child with clear, practical advice and ongoing support, helping your family feel confident and in control.
Listening to your story
Every child and family is unique. We start by listening carefully to your experiences, your challenges, and your concerns. Whether your child has just been diagnosed or you’ve been managing asthma for years, we take the time to understand what’s really going on.
Education made simple
Asthma can be confusing — but it doesn’t have to be. Our educators explain what asthma is, how the medicines work, and what triggers to look out for, all in clear, everyday language. We also make sure your child knows how to use their inhaler correctly and when to take it.
Building confidence
Together, we develop a clear plan for managing asthma at home, school, or sports. We give you the knowledge and practical tools you need so that when asthma symptoms appear, you’ll know exactly what to do — and so will your child and whānau.
Ongoing support
Asthma isn’t something that’s “fixed” in a day. We keep checking in, adjusting medicines if needed, and making sure your child is on the lowest effective dose to stay well. We’ll also advocate on your behalf, whether that means linking you to housing support or providing resources for your school.
Connecting you with the
right resources
We know that managing asthma often involves more than just medicine. Our team helps connect you with the right support services, whether that’s community programmes, school staff, or housing assistance, so your child’s environment supports their health.
Celebrating successes and progress
We believe in acknowledging every step forward. From improved inhaler technique to fewer asthma flare-ups, we celebrate progress with your family. Recognising small wins helps build confidence and encourages ongoing management of asthma in everyday life.

Would you and your family know what to do if your child suddenly had an asthma attack?
